Some things are worth waiting for…
Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.
Some things are worth experiencing…
Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.
Some things should never be kept quiet…
But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?
And some things are worth fighting for…
I wanted to give this book a try. I really did but half way through I couldn't do it anymore.
Wait for You was basically about this girl who's a freshman in college and had moved away from home to get away from her past. There in college she meets the oh-so-hot-and-drool-worthy Cam who can't just leave her alone and all that happens while she keeps getting these threatening messages.
I've read Jennifer L. Armenstrout Covenant series and loved it. I read 2/3 of her Dark Elements series and love it. I only read Obsidian but I also enjoyed that book too. Basically all her fantasy books, I ENJOYED! You know her books are fun and her dialogue between characters are entertaining.
So I picked this up expecting a funny and quick read with a good romance.
Boy was I wrong.
I couldn't continue after 50% of the book.
Every bit of this book annoyed the hell out of me.
Every character in this book was annoying.
I haven't read this in a while so my memory is a little fuzzy.
This book was also boring too. It was so stereotypical and obvious. It's one of those girl meets hot boy that everyone knows and want in college. They meet, date. fall in love, and overcome whatever conflict. I have no problem with this trope. As long it's really emotional with good writing and some plot twist to spice it up so it won't sound basic and boring like some other NA books set in college. Something original!
Avery. Oh my gosh Avery. She was such a wishy washy character who only whined a lot and when people tried to care for her and asked what's wrong with her, she pushed them away! This is absolutely one of my pet-peeves in books. You have this big secret and past that's traumatizing the main character and preventing them to live their life and complain about their lonliness and that no one would under stand them. Then once SOMEONE does, a friend, parent, or whoever starts to ask what's wrongs and notices their actions, they push them away! Avery does this to her friends and it's just so damn annoying!
The romance was ridiculous to me. I didn't see what Cam even saw in Avery besides her being "pretty, smart, and funny". I'm sure there's a bunch of girls who're like that in college but really I couldn't understand what he saw in her. I guess the entertaining banters and lust between them was what made Cam liked Avery so much.
One of the biggest annoyance next to Avery was her friends. Especially that gay one (forgot his name). I'm not homophobic or against LGBT but in this book, he was just so extra? Too much? Maybe it's just me but I'm tired of seeing all this gay guys in books who're so sassy and straight-forward. I know they can be fun and entertaining sometimes but there's more types of gay guys than the feisty and sassy kind. This one in this book is Avery friend and all he talks about is Cam and how hot he is. That's all. Her other friend at least shows some care towards.
I really tried with this book but I just couldn't do it and plus there were typos too.
I love Armenstrout's writing and humor but this book wasn't for me.
If you like the basic story of the girl with a bad past meets the hot guy that everyone wants in college with ridiculous side characters than I recommend this book to you.
